GMSM Mahavidyalaya strives to impart an equitable education which offers a curriculum, which shapes a student coming from a poor rural marginal background holistically with all the intellectual, spiritual and social dimensions. The college has Honours courses in 10 subjects in BA, B.Sc and B.Com streams.The college also offers General Courses in 22 optional elective subjects including modern and varied subjects like Computer Science,Environmental Science, Music, Journalism and Mass Communication and Physical Education.The college also offers employment generative area specific Vocational Courses in Tailoring and Amin Survey aimed towards making the student self reliant.The college also offers Distance Education in Honours and Post graduate Courses affiliated to Netaji Subhas Open University and Rabindra Bharati University.With little scope for innovation in curriculum design ,the college however believes that quality should be the defining element of higher education.
The vision and mission are the beacons guiding every aspect of the college’s academic process. The organizational structure is conducive for effective administration, internal co-ordination and monitoring. Visionary leadership, participative management and involvement of various academic committees ensure the implementation of institutional plans. The governance of the college is based on democratic, growth oriented, value driven and inclusive principles. Participation and transparency are ensured through decentralization, delegation, bottom-up planning and departmentalization of curricular and co-curricular activities.

Believing in the above saying Gour Mohan Sachin Mandal Mahavidyalaya has endeavoured to innovate in a continuos manner in all aspects. Responsive to the need of the changing world and to the learning community the college believes that the only think constant in the world is change for positive outcomes.The college has extended its building by 13,100 square feet. As per NAAC Peer Team recommendations a connecting corridor has also been constructed to facilitate greater communication. The college is surrounded by a newly constructed boundary wall. It has twenty two classrooms, one computer centre, one newly added seminar hall, and an English language laboratory. The college has a beautiful manicured garden and a garden of medicinal plants. The college has several water bodies within its campus. The college also has a canteen run by a women’s self help group Sangrami Guchcho Samiti, a multigym, a fully computerized library with INFLIBNET access, an administrative building housing an automated office and a Students’ Union Room. The college is LAN connected. The college has a Central Computer Centre (UGC-NRC) with internet connectivity and several licensed soft wares. There is twenty four hour power back up in the form of a 45 KVA eco-friendly green generator. The college has ICT equipments including an LCD projector. Safe drinking water is made available to students through water purifiers installed in the college. The college has a rain water harvesting facility. Fire safety measures are implemented. The college also has a solar power generating unit.
With a vision and mission of bringing out their capabilities in order to help them become good citizens and possess beautiful life – the college endeavours towards providing education as the only means to ensure a better life to a student who loves education in the most vital period of life in college. On behalf of the institution we encourage our students to love education and motivate them to seek a better life with a touch of personal accountability and social responsibility. We believe only good education can give them a clue to a better life in society. Our institution has turned to a second home to all its students, faculty and non teaching staff.
