The importance of social and cultural activities is preparing students for real life and strengthening their personal skills. Social/cultural activities not only help students to identify themselves with the College, but also assist students to develop themselves in a desired field and also improve skills such as organizational, presentation, leadership and interpersonal communication. As social and cultural activities are of paramount importance, the College encourages all extra-curricular activities that are both in line with the educational objectives of the institution and meet the needs of the students. Culture can be defined as the arts as well as the intangible shared beliefs, values, and practices of a community. Students participate in arts and culture at varying levels of skill and engagement. Some create, while others listen to, watch, teach, critique, or learn a cultural activity, art form, or expression. Together, these formal and informal, tangible and intangible, professional and amateur artistic and cultural activities constitute the college ‘s cultural assets.

  1. Golden Jubilee Celebration

The college celebrated its Golden Jubilee in August 2018 over a span of two days. The teachers and the staff presented a dance drama with the theme of national integration and gender empowerment.

  1. Annual Cultural Programme (Social)

The Annual Social’ of the college is held every year with great enthusiasm. This programme is organised by the college Students’ Union and the Cultural Committee. The students of the college eagerly wait for this event in which they can participate and perform. The programme is celebrated with creativity, enthusiasm and a youthful dynamism. This is also a platform for prize distribution ceremony of different competitions in the different fields of music, dance, dramatics, debating, fine arts, quiz held among the students.   1. Nabin Baran (Freshers’ Welcome)

Nabin Baran’ is organized during September each year, as a grand welcome for the new comers admitted in the 1st year of B.A./B.Sc. course.   1. Teacher’s Day

Every year the college celebrates Teachers Day with fun and gaiety. Departments also organize separate cultural functions to celebrate the day.

  1. Intra College Singing Competition

The college organises intra college singing competition including Patriotic songs celebrating Azazi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

  1. World Music Day

World Music Day is celebrated every year which includes competitions like Ganer ei Jharnatalae in collaboration with Deshabandhu Girls College. The HOD of the Misic Department uploads music videos on the college website regularly.

  1. Online Cultural Programs during the Pandemic

The Department of History organised an audio drama "Pujarini" on the theme of untouchability and is available in the college YouTube channel. Students also celebrated Rabindra Jayanti with a cultural program uploaded in the YouTube channel. Students of the Bio Science Departments also celebrated Teachers Day online.   1. Mahalaya Celebrations

The Music Department celebrates the onset of the Durga Puja with cultural programs like Mahisasur Mardini depicting the celebration of good over evil.

  1. International Mother Language Day

The Bengali department celebrates International Mother Language day on 21st February through dance dramas, plays, music and poetry.
